Beautiful handmade pendants are a task that anyone can handle. We will talk about unique jewelry that you can make yourself from practically available materials. They can easily be found at home or in the nearest store.

Pendant made of beads and beads

For beginners, it is better to practice on plastic or wooden beads. The latter, if desired, can be painted in any suitable color, if they have not yet been varnished. In the future - artificial or ornamental stones (for example, pearls, agate), solid wood.

It depends on the manufacturer how even each bead in the bag will be. Cheap Chinese ones often come across beads that are crooked, beveled or too narrow for a needle.

It is suitable for training and single-color “filling”, creating a “casual” effect in the boho style, etc., but a multi-colored pattern may go astray. Therefore, patterns of two or more shades are best made from high-quality Czech, Japanese or similar beads.

Wire pendant

The most common in three variations: steel, golden and aged bronze. More expensive and more difficult to process are copper and semi- and precious metals. It is found in different thicknesses, ranging from approximately 0.02-0.04 mm.

For a multi-layer decoration with a large number of elements, it is better to have several wires of the same color of different thicknesses.

To work with the material, you will need tools that can be borrowed from men: pliers and round nose pliers, wire cutters. And also a ruler along with a sketch of the pendant.

Polymer clay pendant

It will appeal to everyone who once loved to sculpt and has not lost their skills. Those who have already forgotten or want to improve their skills will be saved and delighted by the huge number of instructions on how to make a pendant with your own hands on the Internet - on video or with photos. You can achieve very beautiful multi-layered or gradient transitions by correctly folding or crushing pieces of clay.

The uniqueness of the material lies in the fact that it can be used to mold incredibly realistic fruits, berries, desserts, flowers, any figures and even landmark buildings that will look great as beads for earrings, pendants, bracelets and brooches. To do this, a fastener is carefully stuck into the finished products, and then everything is baked in the oven according to the instructions.

You should carefully monitor the expiration date and observe the storage conditions; if the polymer clay is overused, it will become difficult to wrinkle and will crumble after heating.

Cold porcelain pendant

It is easy to prepare at home, so it is one of the cheapest materials for creativity. Unlike polymer clay, it is more plastic and homogeneous, hardens at room temperature within several days.

Cold porcelain is easily painted with food dyes when cooked or after hardening with acrylic paints. It produces very delicate and realistic flowers, especially if you use molds taken from real plants.

Epoxy resin pendant

It is often sold as two components: a resin and a hardener. They are mixed in strict proportions and poured into silicone and plastic molds or bases for pendants. After about 1-2 days, the coating finally hardens and becomes transparent.

Pin pendant

Ideal for brutal military-style accessories, but can look bright and unusual if decorated (with beads, bright yarn, etc.).

Pendant made of chains, braid, lace

They are useful for hanging a pendant around your neck by adjusting the desired length, and for decorating the pendant itself.

In addition to the listed materials, options and ideas for making a pendant can be very different; even old forks, shells, keys or pieces of glass ground by waves will do, if you put in the effort and imagination.

Note!

Master class on how to make a beautiful pendant

  • Place the glass balls on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 260 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Pour the balls into cold water with ice, they will crack beautifully inside. The beads are ready.
  • Insert the pin into the hug, cut off the excess end with wire cutters, leaving 3-5 mm from the edge.
  • Bend the tip from the inside of the hugger with thin-nose pliers. Apply clear super glue thickly.
  • Press the ball firmly onto the glue. Wait until the materials set and leave to dry.
  • Thread a ring into the loop of the pin and pass a lace or chain through it.

The photo of how to make a pendant shows the steps of a simple manufacturing process that will be fun to do with younger students. When everything works out, move on to more complex and interesting products. Good luck!

DIY photo of pendants

Note!

Note!

Handmade jewelry always looks original, stylish and attracts the attention of others. Many people do not take on such creativity due to a lack of imagination and certain skills, however, guided by the master classes presented below, it will be very easy to make a beautiful decoration at home yourself.

Stylish lace

Materials:

  • leather or suede lace;
  • accessories;
  • pliers.

Cut the cord to the desired length and attach fittings to its edges.

Bottle pendant

Materials:

  • wire or pin with a ring at the end;
  • small bottle with stopper;
  • beads, sparkles, keys;
  • chain or cord;
  • pliers, round nose pliers;
  • Super glue.

At the initial stage, you need to secure the pin to the cork so that the bottle can be conveniently hung on the cord. To do this, coat the pin well with glue and stick it into the cork, as shown in the photo.

Then twist the free part of the pin into a ring using pliers, and you need to pay attention to the diameter of this ring - the chain on which the pendant will hang should easily pass through it. If the size of the pin does not allow making a ring with a sufficient diameter, then an additional ring of the required diameter can be made from wire and attached to the pin.

Next comes the fun part - choosing the contents for the bottle. Here your imagination can run wild to its heart's content, but we suggest putting something small or something memorable in there. An original key, dried flowers, beads, beads, sparkles and sequins will look good.

Glitter pendant

Materials:

  • glitter;
  • metal base for necklace;
  • matte glue for decoupage;
  • brush;
  • pliers;
  • chain with accessories.

Apply glue to the workpiece using a brush. Then sprinkle glitter on the glue. After drying, remove loose glitter from the workpiece and apply glue and glitter to it again. Repeat these steps until the workpiece is completely filled. Measure the desired length of the chain, attach a lock to it and put the pendant on it.

Broken glass pendant

Instead of glitter from the master class described above, you can use broken glass to fill the blank. This glass must first be crushed and then carefully glued to the base, as in the previous version. After drying, the glass can be painted in any desired color using nail polish.

Braided choker

Materials:

  • elastomeric beading thread or wire from old headphones;
  • scissors;
  • scotch.

Secure the thread on the table with tape and weave the choker according to the pattern as shown in the photo.

Ribbon choker

Materials:

  • tape of the desired width;
  • accessories for processing the edges of the tape;
  • scissors;
  • pliers.

Cut the required length of tape. Attach the fittings to its ends. A similar ribbon can be tied around the neck as shown in the photo.

Choker with ring

Materials:

  • ribbon;
  • metal ring;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

Cut the ribbon into 2 halves. Glue the edges of the tape to the ring. Tie the choker around the neck in a knot. A similar decoration, but smaller in size, would make an excellent wrist bracelet.

Chanel style choker

Materials:

  • wire;
  • large beads;
  • fittings for fastening;
  • Super glue;
  • pliers.

Measure the length of the wire according to your neck size and bite off its edges so that it is convenient to put the choker on your neck. Place beads on the edges. Drop glue into the holes of the beads and insert fittings there for fastening.

By analogy with a choker, you can make the same original bracelet or ring.

Chain with braided pendant

Materials:

  • 6 laces of different textures and shades;
  • chain;
  • meter or tape measure;
  • scissors;
  • pliers;
  • chain clasp;
  • masking tape.

At the initial stage, you should decide on the length of the product, and based on this, cut the desired size of the chain.

Then this piece must be folded in half on the table, and 6 different laces placed on top of it.

Tighten the chain around the laces as shown in the photo, then secure it with tape to the table and begin weaving.

After the pendant is ready, you should trim the ends of the laces.

And fasten the clasp on the chain.

Bean necklace

Materials:

  • product template printed on a printer;
  • beans;
  • beads;
  • transparent plastic 2-3 millimeters thick;
  • nail polish of the desired color;
  • chain with clasp;
  • cutting board;
  • stationery knife;
  • tweezers;
  • hole puncher;
  • Super glue.

First, the beans must be painted with nail polish and wait until they dry completely.

Attach the paper template on the reverse side to a sheet of transparent plastic.

In accordance with the diagram, glue the beans onto the plastic, spreading it well with glue.

First, it is better to collect large patterns from beans, and fill the gaps between them and small patterns with beads.

After the workpiece is completely glued, it needs to be given time to dry, and then using a stationery knife, cut the plastic strictly along the edge of the product. Using a hole punch, you need to make holes in the plastic at the extreme points of the necklace and insert the chain links into them.

Bead necklace

Materials:

  • beads, beads or beads;
  • hairband covered with fabric;
  • needle and thread;
  • a piece of fabric to match the beads;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

To quickly create such jewelry, it is better to take ready-made beads, which are usually sold by the meter, and cut them into pieces of different lengths. Or assemble beads or beads yourself on a strong fishing line.

Fold the pieces of beads so that one end is shorter than the other and carefully sew them to the fabric of the hoop.

The maximum length of beads should be located at the edges of the hoop, and the shortest in the middle. In this case, the transition from the edges to the center should be made very smoothly.

When all the pieces of beads are secured, you need to sew or glue a piece of fabric to the inside of the choker, which will hide all the seams.

Jewelry made from inexpensive materials was originally just cheap copies of jewelry, but now costume jewelry is no longer considered a sign of bad taste.

Since the mid-twentieth century, famous designers began to create beautiful and high-quality jewelry from inexpensive materials. Then costume jewelry became more valued by fashionistas, but even today many believe that it is better not to wear anything than “glass beads glued to a plastic base.” A possible DIY neck decoration scheme is shown in the photo below.

In fact, jewelry can be very stylish, and the budget price of jewelry allows you to create even more fashionable looks. In addition, it has become popular to make bracelets, rings, and neck jewelry with your own hands.

Textile beads

Textile beads can be made from any beads (wooden, plastic, polymer clay) or a fabric “tube” can be filled with any filler, tied at regular intervals. A bracelet will go with this DIY fabric neck decoration.

For one of the options for an original decoration, you need to prepare an oblong piece of bright fabric (not only plain fabric looks great, but also with a pattern), a needle and strong thread that matches the color (embroidery thread is suitable, use at least two folds), a clasp for beads , beads of different sizes. These beads will look better if you use large beads.

If you don’t find beads of a suitable size, you can make them yourself - for example, by tearing the foil into small pieces and crushing them to make a ball.

You need to cut a strip of fabric about seventy centimeters long and two times the width of a bead. Next, the fabric must be folded crosswise and stitched (stitch the needle back) so that you get a “tube” with one open end. The fabric should be turned inside out so that the seam is on the inside.

You can then begin to “stuff” the fabric “tube” with beads, securing them in place. You can fix it with ordinary threads, thin ribbons, tying neat bows between beads, small beads, passing the material through them, knots on the fabric. When the work is finished, the end of the “tunnel” needs to be sewn up and a clasp attached. The DIY decoration (jewelry) for the neck is ready.

Such textile beads can be decorated with fabric flowers or bows or lace. A suitable decoration for a delicate look for every day, for example, skinny jeans + sandals + a lace T-shirt, can be achieved by making beads from denim and decorating them with a lace flower.

Bead jewelery

A beaded necklace can be elegant and delicate, in an ethnic style or massive - there are many options, one of which will definitely suit your favorite look. For a neat beaded necklace decoration with your own hands, you will need jewelry wire (for the base) and thinner wire (for stringing beads), large beads in three pastel shades (for example, white, beige and mint), a clasp, a chain, pliers and wire cutters.

First you need to make the basis for the future wire decoration. For example, like the one in the picture.

Next, you can begin to attach the beads to the base, stringing them on a thin wire. When finishing braiding each section of the base, it is advisable to additionally secure the beads. Once the base is decorated, you can attach a chain and clasp to its edges.

You can also make a necklace with your own hands from several beaded “chains”. It is enough to take twelve pieces of thread of two colors (for example, six turquoise and six gray), lay them out in four groups of three threads of the same color and start weaving a braid.

Then you need to secure the threads well and secure them to the ends of the fastener.

Paper necklace

Paper elements can be used to make many decorative items. In addition to the fact that you can simply twist strips of paper into stars, hearts, or simply “tunnels,” the papier-mâché technique is also used. Such DIY neck decorations are often made for carnivals, photo shoots, masquerades, parties and similar entertainment events, but for every day it is better to choose something made from beads, seed beads, or fabric.

For the most ordinary decoration, you can use sheets from glossy magazines. It is enough to cut the paper into strips and twist it into tight “tunnels”. You should get about twenty-four beads or more. The number of such decorative elements depends on the length of the beads needed. They can be worn on yarn or a thin chain for jewelry. Such beads would suit, for example, a grotesque costume of a film star.

“African” beads can be made if white paper beads are painted in the manner of animal skins: apply black and white zebra stripes, spots like a giraffe or leopard, and paint completely. The beads can be of different sizes (you can vary the width and length of the paper strips) - this will be even more interesting. Ready-made paper beads can be put on “shaggy” yarn.

Crochet jewelry

Original DIY neck decorations are made from ordinary crochet yarn. Such jewelry made from melange yarn was recently presented at the Chanel fashion house.

The easiest way to make a “warm” decoration is to prepare a thick chain of white or yellow metal for the base of the decoration, a skein of yarn with decorative “grass”, which gives the products volume and lightness. The chain should be tied with a regular double crochet; from the second row, the necklace should be gradually narrowed towards the edges.

The decoration can be safely made wide - this is exactly the option that Chanel designers proposed.

Polymer clay beads

A lot of different beads, which then just need to be put on a thread, can be made from polymer clay. These are “marble” beads, and fantasy, and abstract, and “stone-like”, and seemingly wooden, and many others. You can make pumpkin beads for Halloween, beads from “candy canes” for the summer, and Christmas trees and boots for the New Year.

Gradient beads made from polymer clay look beautiful. To work, you will need baked polymer clay in two shades (green and blue, beige and orange, blue and yellow), a clay knife, glue, and cord. You need to cut one or two bars from each piece of polymer clay, cut them diagonally and combine different colors with each other. Then you need to cut the bars crosswise to make even rectangles.

The resulting rectangles must be thoroughly mixed until a uniform shade is achieved. The blanks can be dipped in coarse table salt (a texture will appear). Afterwards, use a toothpick to make neat holes so that you can then put the beads on the cord.

Then the blanks need to be baked in the oven according to the instructions for the polymer clay. The cooled elements need to be collected on a thread (a thin one can be folded twice or thrice) in the order of color transition.

Additionally, you can decorate the beads with other decorative elements.

Scotch decorations

You can even make stylish DIY decorations from tape. You will need adhesive tape of several colors, any chain for the base, a needle and scissors. One option is to connect two pieces of tape of different colors (for example, adhesive tape with a “lace” pattern and a plain turquoise, pink, light green) at a slight angle. The workpiece can be shaped, for example, into a feather, and the tape can be cut along the edge to create a fringe. Next, you need to make a hole in the top of the feather and secure the pendant to the chain. All other versions of pendants from ordinary colored tape are made according to a similar principle.

Wire jewelry

A DIY neck decoration - an original pendant that no other fashionista will definitely have - is made from wire and several beads in just one evening. It is better to take a flexible enough wire, a chain to wear a pendant, several beads of any color and size, wire cutters and pliers.

The beads will be arranged like birds' eggs in a nest, so color, size and transparency do not really matter. Even beads that look different in appearance will look beautiful. You need to connect three beads (you can place just one in a “nest”) with wire, and then wrap it around several times. What is more important here is not accuracy, but the accuracy of the turns.

After completion, you need to secure the base of the nest, make a ring so that you can thread a chain into it.

Lightning heart pendant

DIY bead jewelry for the neck is not the only option to make stylish jewelry. Even the most ordinary things can be made very beautiful and given a second life. An interesting pendant can be made even from a piece of an ordinary zipper.

The zipper needs to be unzipped so that the dog is almost at the very bottom. Next, the fastener sections must be folded in half towards the pawl. If the base of the zipper is wide, the fabric edges can be trimmed, so the pendant will look neater. The zipper must be secured in the shape of a heart with color-matched threads. Rings for the chain can be attached to the upper edges of the heart.

There are other options for a lightning heart.

Jewelry made from natural materials

Natural materials are a treasure trove for creating original jewelry. You can use shells, pasta, and “petals” of cones. You can make a very beautiful pendant if you place one or two dandelion parachutes (umbrellas) in a small transparent jar with a wooden stopper. Similar containers for pendants are sold in souvenir or handicraft stores.

Buying neck jewelry is easy these days. But if you want others to pay attention not to the high cost of a decorative product, but to its uniqueness and originality, it is better to make neck jewelry with your own hands.

Handmade craftswomen use beads, buttons, pieces of lace, and strips of fabric for this purpose. You can buy supplies and fasteners at a craft store, supermarket, or order online.

Knitted jewelry. Crochet technique

If you buy a ball of beautiful acrylic or cotton threads, you can crochet an openwork collar, scarf or neckerchief - traditional knitted accessories. Another option is to make an elegant necklace to match a dress with a V-neck.

Snow-white necklace. Knitted with crochet number 1.5 from white cotton yarn Maxi (100 g/565 m)

The decoration consists of 4 separately made snowflakes - they are crocheted together using air loops. Knitted snowflakes begin to be woven with 6 air loops, closing them in a ring. Then the work continues according to the scheme:

  • 1 row. 12 single crochets are knitted into the middle of the ring and the row is closed with a connecting stitch.
  • 2nd row. * Cast on 3 air loops, skip 1 loop, knit a connecting stitch into the next loop *. Motif *-* is repeated 5 times
  • 3rd row. A connecting stitch is knitted into the initial arch of the 2nd row, 3 chain stitches, 2 double crochets, 2 chain stitches and 3 double crochets are cast on. * Cast on 3 chain stitches, knit 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches and 3 double crochets into the second arch. The motif *-* is repeated 4 times. The row is completed by knitting 3 chain stitches. Close the row by knitting a connecting stitch into the third air lifting loop
  • 4 row. *Knit the connecting post into an arch of 2 air loops. Crochet “picot”: pick up 3 air loops and knit a connecting stitch into the first of them. Knit a connecting stitch into the second arch of 3 chain stitches, perform 1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 1 double crochet. Repeat “picot”, knit 1 double crochet, 1 half crochet and 2 single crochets.* The *-* motif is repeated 5 times. Close the ring with a connecting post

The thread is secured with a knot and cut. Make 3 more snowflakes in a similar way. The knitted elements are connected with air loops (12 in each gap). The outermost snowflakes are connected in chains, knitting 120 air loops on each side. To make homemade jewelry visually lengthen the neck, one of the snowflakes is placed in the form of a pendant.

Necklace made of... laces

To make original knitted jewelry, you should learn how to crochet and knit laces. You can buy them, but then they will look completely uninteresting.

Costume jewelry from hand-made elements is made in different ways: they are intertwined with each other, beads with large holes are strung on them, they are entwined with threads of beads, and crocheted flowers are sewn on. So, three weaving options using different techniques.

  1. On large-diameter knitting needles, cast on the required number of loops (50-150) and knit in stocking stitch (knit stitches) from 2 to 4 rows. The last row is closed as usual. Knitted strips themselves twist into soft plastic laces
  2. On the knitting needles you need to cast on an odd number of loops (3-5-7) and knit them with knit stitches, without edge stitches. The loops are transferred to the left knitting needle and knitted again. Knitting continues until strips of the desired length are obtained.
  3. To crochet full-length laces, you need to buy 3-4 balls of yarn (can be of different colors). A thread is taken from each of them and tied in a knot. An air loop is knitted from any thread, the thread from the second ball is pulled through it and again knitted with an air loop. The process is repeated, alternating balls, and as a result, knitted laces are obtained, similar to store-bought ones.

Necklace made of laces with beads

From yarn with lurex (white and gray) two strips are knitted on knitting needles (using the first method). To make cords, the edges of each strip are sewn together with thin threads. Along the entire length, at equal intervals, the laces are connected to each other with white mother-of-pearl beads. Fasteners are attached to the ends - you can buy them at a craft store.

Massive neck jewelry

In Kievan Rus, women from a noble family wore neckbands with carved inserts made of gold or silver plates (this decoration is called “hryvnia”). Russian beauties hung their necks with “monists” - many threads with strings of beads, coins, and freshwater pearls. Ancient necklaces in the form of metal plates connected by metal rings are known. Such products were called gaitans or gerdans (later the strips began to be woven from beads).

Modern massive jewelry goes well not only with dresses, but also with chunky knit sweaters, blouses (both buttoned and unbuttoned) and even with denim shirts. The only condition: if the jewelry is large, the clothes should not be colorful or too complex in cut. You can buy ready-made necklaces made of natural or artificial stones, combined necklaces made of multi-colored beads or metal rings. A massive beaded necklace is easy to make with your own hands.

Necklace made of gray and turquoise beads

To work, you need to buy small round beads, a fishing line for weaving, 2 connecting rings, a clasp and glue. In addition, you will need pliers and matches. For the necklace, prepare 12 strands of beads - 6 pieces of each color.

The manufacturing process is carried out in stages:

  • Cut the fishing line to the desired length - from 70 to 100 cm
  • The fishing line is pulled through a clamping ring, and then its end is threaded through a special bead, which is then flattened with pliers. If there are no beads, the ends of the fishing line are tied to the rings, and the extra “tails” are burned with a match
  • The beads are strung sequentially on each thread; at the end, a bead is put on for crimping and the line is threaded through the ring. The end is pulled through the bead, then it is flattened
  • The prepared bead threads are connected on one side so that you get 2 strips of each color (each of them has 3 threads). Gray and turquoise stripes should alternate
  • A braid is made from the stripes, resulting in a combined two-color ornament.
  • Having finished weaving, the threads are tied or put on a bead. The protruding ends of the fishing line are cut off, and a fastener is glued to one end.

The original beaded jewelry is ready.
