Do you want to decorate your house or garden in an original way? Try to make a topiary with your own hands - a decorative miracle tree in the form of a whimsical fantasy ball on a high leg, also called the tree of happiness.

Domesticated artificial topiaries are relatives of living topiary sculptures. Trimming the plants in your summer cottage to shape requires a lot of skill, but absolutely anyone can grow their own tree of happiness.

Buying a ready-made tree, and even in the most luxurious design from amethyst, citrine, coral or crystal, will not be difficult, but is it really possible to buy happiness?It's in our hands! It is with them that we will “sculpt” our happiness.

They create topiary from a wide variety of natural and decorative materials - fresh and artificial flowers, coffee beans, beautiful shells, pebbles, dried flowers, paper, sweets, cocktail umbrellas...

Topiary can serve as an imitation of a real plant, or take on completely fabulous shapes and colors. The sizes of topiary range from miniature dwarf compositions a la bonsai to the size of large indoor trees. An excellent gift option is fresh fruit topiary. But such a masterpiece cannot boast of durability. Topiaries made from aromatic plants are very popular, serving not only as an excellent interior decoration, but also filling the air with wonderful aromas. Learning to make topiary: the “anatomy” of the tree of happiness Mastering the art of creating homemade topiary is not difficult. Even a beginner in handmade crafts can cope with this task perfectly. In addition, all the materials necessary for topiary are affordable and can always be found on sale.

To make topiary you will need:

Potty

The diameter of the pot should not exceed the diameter of the crown ball. You can purchase a ready-made pot or make it yourself from a container of the desired shape, and then paint it, cover it with fabric, or decorate it in some other original way. In fact, choosing a pot that is suitable for the style and color of the product is not an easy task, so if you first purchased a pot, most likely you will have to come up with a composition to match it.

Crown ball

To create a crown you will need a plastic or paper ball. You can make a paper ball from crumpled paper or newspapers, and then coat the ball with paste or wrap it with thread. Rubber balls are more difficult to use because they lose their shape when pierced. If the decorative elements will not be glued, but stuck in, a foam ball will be perfect for floral arrangements.

Stick for the trunk

A branch or any suitable stick, for example, a stick from blinds, which is subsequently painted or wrapped with ribbons, will do. It is advisable to choose a longer stick, because it will be attached almost to the base in the pot and a ball will be placed on it. A trunk that is too short can ruin the entire composition.

Glue

Any all-purpose glue will work fine. For individual elements you may need super glue, a glue gun or liquid nails.

Cement, gypsum, alabaster

We seal the hole in the bottom of the pot. Having prepared the solution, quickly stir it, pour it into the pot and immediately insert the stick-trunk until the solution hardens. The cement will prevent the crown ball from outweighing the pot. But if the pot is already quite heavy, the cement can be replaced with polyurethane foam.

Pebbles, sand, shells, colored salt, beans...

Glued on top of the mortar at the base of the tree.

Accessories for decorating wood

Dried flowers, artificial flowers, shells, pebbles, pine cones, bows, cocktail umbrellas, coffee beans, beans, pistachios, shells, corrugated paper and anything else that comes to your mind.

Photo master class:

  • Necessary materials:
  • 100 grams of roasted coffee beans in a sippy cup (available at an office supply store)
  • wash brush for whitewashing (can be bought at a hardware store, hardware store or market)
  • 1 plastic ball, 8-9 cm in diameter (such balls are widely used in children's playrooms and are sold individually on the market)
  • scissors
  • spool of brown thread
  • 2 rubber bands for money
  • universal transparent glue
  • clear super glue
  • a glass of sand, cement or gypsum
  • wooden stick or branch 20 cm long and 1.5-2 cm thick
  • twine rope 50 cm

How to do:

1. Using scissors, we carefully make one hole in a plastic ball, where a little later we will insert the “trunk” of our tree.

2. We take a whitewash brush and pull out a strand of sponge from it, or, after removing the ropes, we completely disassemble the brush.

3. Using a money elastic band, secure the sponge thread at one end of the branch. Lubricate the branch with universal glue and spirally glue the future “trunk” with thread. From the other end of the branch, we again fix the thread with a money elastic band and insert the “trunk” into the ball, which will play the role of a crown.

4. Using universal glue, we glue the ball with brown threads to greatly facilitate and speed up the process of gluing the coffee beans. To paste over the ball, you can also use strands from a whitewash brush, but using threads is much better and easier.

5. Now we proceed to pasting the ball with the first layer of coffee beans. For this we need transparent super glue. It is advisable to glue the grains in different orders - with the groove down, then up. Apply glue directly to each grain. You should use super glue very carefully, since it leaves white spots on dark grains, quickly sticks firmly to your hands and has a pungent odor, so it is advisable to “grow” your tree of happiness in a well-ventilated area. You can also use a glue gun or liquid nails.

6. One layer of grains will not be enough, so be sure to make a second one. To give the surface texture greater relief, do not forget to alternate the smooth side of the grains with the one with the groove.

7. It's time to start creating an original pot for our tree of happiness. First of all, cut off a little bast from the brush, the length of which should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bottom of the glass. Then we lubricate the bottom with universal glue and place it on the prepared washcloth. We cut off the threads protruding beyond the edges of the bottom.

8. Now we cut the washcloth from the brush so that it is 3 cm longer than the height of the glass. Apply universal glue to the side surface of the glass, 2.5-3 cm short of the top, and gradually cover the glass with the prepared washcloth. We tie the glued glass at the bottom with twine and trim off the excess edges. We trim the ends and the top so that the threads are approximately 2 cm above the edge of the glass.

9. Using universal glue, we paste long strands of sponge around the funnel in a circle and screw the tree trunk into it.

In the interior you can often find a homemade topiary or a tree of happiness, which attracts good luck, financial wealth and good mood.

How to make a coffee tree?

Topiaries made from aromatic plants are very popular. They serve not only to decorate the interior, but also to fill it with aroma. Happiness trees made from coffee beans are very popular.

To make such a tree you will need the following materials:

  • roasted coffee beans - 100 gr.;
  • sippy cup;
  • whitewash brush;
  • blank in the shape of a plastic ball. The optimal diameter of the ball is 8-9 cm;
  • scissors;
  • brown threads;
  • two rubber bands for money;
  • universal colorless glue;
  • sand, gypsum or cement - 200 g;
  • branch or stick 20 cm long and 1.5-2 cm thick;
  • twine 50 cm.

Coffee Tree Making Guide

Using scissors, you need to make one hole in the plastic blank.

Let's sort it out whitewash brush on strands.

Attach the strands to one end of the branch. For these purposes we use an elastic band for money. Coat the future “trunk” with glue and glue it in a spiral threads. You can secure the thread at the other end of the stick with an elastic band.

We glue the ball-shaped blank with brown threads. You can also take fibers from poplar fiber for these purposes.

Using super glue, liquid nails or a glue gun, glue the ball with the first layer grains.

Tip: it is best to glue the grains in a chaotic order. Glue must be applied directly to each grain and quickly glued to the workpiece. All work must be carried out in a well-ventilated area.

The second layer is done in the same way.

Create an original one tree pot. To do this you will need strands from the brush. We coat the bottom of the container with universal glue and place it on the strands laid out on the table. Threads that protrude beyond the edges must be trimmed.

We cut the strands of the brush. They should be 3 cm longer than the height of the container. Next, you need to apply glue to the glass. Moreover, the glue is not applied to the entire surface. You should leave 2.5-3 cm on top. Next, the container is glued with strands prepared in advance. After this, it is tied at the bottom with twine, and the excess is cut off. It is also necessary to trim the strands from above. As a result of this, the threads should rise two centimeters above the glass.

Pour into a container filler. This could be sand or gypsum. You can also use polyurethane foam for these purposes. Next, you need to move the strands at the top and place a funnel with a barrel on the container.

The container should be tied at the top twine.

Finally, you can place a few coffee beans near the barrel. You can also lay moss at the base of the composition and place an insect on the crown.

Flat coffee topiary

To create such a flat coffee topiary with a magnet, you need to stock up on the following materials:

Step-by-step instruction

The first thing you need to do before starting work is to turn on heat gun so that it warms up.

While the heat gun is heating up, you can do blanks. To do this, you need to draw a circle and a pot on cardboard and cut out these details using scissors.

Assembling the tree parts. Crown and pot connect using a flat stick. To do this, you need to insert the stick into the cardboard blank so that it is between two layers of paper.

To fix the parts together we use glue.

The workpiece must be glued burlap on both sides.

Tip: the burlap on one side should be equal to the diameter of the workpiece, and on the other side - slightly larger. This way you can hide the ends of the cardboard and the tree will look beautiful from behind.

Improvised potty decorate as well as the crown.

We glue it on the back magnets.

Decorating the crown coffee beans. They are attached with glue along the edges of the workpiece. Moreover, the grains should be arranged with the cuts downwards.

We glue the next row so that the grains are arranged with the cuts facing up. We alternate subsequent rows in the same way as the first and second rows.

To give the crown volume, it is necessary to glue several layers in its central part.

Finally, you will need to glue decorative ribbons and lace.

Topiary - tree of happiness made of boxwood

To make this decoration you will need the following materials:

  • boxwood branches. Both artificial and natural branches are suitable for topiary;
  • decorative container;
  • artificial flowers;
  • a little moss;
  • filler. In our case it will be gravel;
  • wire.

Step-by-step instructions for making topiary - the tree of happiness

Inserted into the workpiece boxwood branches so that there are no voids.

The branches that will serve as the trunk must be tied wire.

A hole is made in the spherical blank and the ball is placed on the barrel.

A layer of moss must be placed on top of the gravel.

The crown can be decorated with artificial flowers.

DIY money topiary

Topiary can also be made from artificial paper money. Such decoration can attract financial well-being to its owner. Making such a money topiary with your own hands is not particularly difficult.

For manufacturing you will need the following materials:

Step-by-step instruction

Decorating the pot. Colors the upper part, about one or two centimeters. For these purposes, it is best to use acrylic paint. Cover the rest of the pot with twine. For these purposes, apply a thin layer of glue over the entire surface using a toothpick. The end of the twine is securely fixed with glue.

The basis for the crown we make it from old newspaper and thread. To do this, simply crumple newspaper sheets and wrap them with thread. In our case, the workpiece is about 10-11 cm in diameter. In order for the ball to be durable, it must be coated with PVA glue. After the glue has dried, you need to make a hole three to four centimeters deep in the workpiece.

12-15 skewers need to be tied together. Their number depends on the diameter of the paper blank. We tie the skewers on both sides with thread. Using a hot glue gun, pump hot glue into the hole and immediately insert the tied swords there. After the glue has dried, you can begin wrapping the trunk with twine. During the wrapping process, coat the barrel with glue. We fix the ends of the twine.

Napkins or newspapers must be torn into pieces. PVA glue is mixed one to one with water. Next, one or two layers of the adhesive mixture are applied to the newspaper blank so that the threads and newspaper are not visible.

Let's do gypsum mortar and pour it into the pot. There should be about one centimeter left to the top edge of the pot. The trunk must be installed in the center of the pot. If necessary, hold the barrel with the workpiece until the mixture hardens. This process takes about 15-20 minutes.

While the plaster hardens, you can make blanks from artificial banknotes. To do this, they need to be cut in the shape of a circle. To make disks you will need artificial money measuring 15.5x6.5 cm. On average, our ball will need 17-18 disks. The paper blanks must be folded in the form of an accordion with a width of about one centimeter. We tie the resulting accordion in the middle with a ribbon, and glue its ends on both sides.

We glue the bills to the ball from bottom to top. Hot glue is used for these purposes. We close the gaps with coins.

From paper money We make elements of different shapes and attach them in a chaotic manner.

You can decorate plaster using sisal.

We place small ones under the tree burlap bags. To do this, cut out a circle from the fabric, the diameter of which is about 9-10 cm. Take a needle with a strong thread and stitch it along the entire circumference at a distance of 1.5 cm from the edge. After this we tighten the thread. We place a large coin inside the bag and fill it with cotton wool or padding polyester on top. We tighten the bag and secure it with several stitches.

Decorative parts should be glued to the pot, and the crown can be decorated with coins.

DIY ribbon topiary

Do-it-yourself topiary made from ribbons looks very impressive. To make such a decoration you will need the following materials:

  • ball-shaped blank made of polystyrene foam;
  • stick or pencil;
  • ribbons;
  • glue;
  • decorative pot;
  • invisible.

The tape is cut into small strips and wound around your finger to form rings. Then, one by one, you need to attach the formed rings to the workpiece. At the same time, make sure that there are no empty spaces on the ball. On one side, the pencil is inserted into a ball with ribbons, and on the other, it is inserted into a pot filled with gravel. As a decoration, you can put decorative frost or decorate with trimmings from ribbons.

Topiary - a tree of happiness with your own hands from fresh flowers

Topiary can also be made from fresh flowers. To do this you will need the following materials:

  • decorative container;
  • plastic bag;
  • chopsticks or branches;
  • putty;
  • floral sponge;
  • decorative ribbons and wire;
  • Natural flowers. In our case, 9 roses.

We wrap the inside of the pot with a bag and fill it with putty solution so that 5-7 cm remains on top. Insert a stick into the solution and leave it overnight. After the putty has hardened, the remainder of the bag must be cut off.

Cut out a circle from a floral sponge and fill the pot with it to the very top. Next, wet the sponge and place a layer of moss on top. You need to stick roses in the central part of the sponge. They can be secured using decorative tapes with wooden rods. Bows can be used for decoration.

DIY paper topiary

DIY paper topiaries are very popular. They can be made according to any of the above instructions. For the base you will need a polystyrene foam ball, a decorative small vase, a pencil and paper flowers. To make flowers, you can use both regular and corrugated paper. To revive the topiary, you can use regular moss, which is usually placed in a vase.

First we do tree crown. To do this, stick sisal and shells onto a foam ball using a heat gun.

Next, let's move on to the device. trunk. Our barrel will be made of wire, which must be wrapped with white thread and twisted. Two trunks will be made for our tree. Only the second one will be wrapped with twine.

The next stage is manufacturing pot. To fix the tree, foam will be used in the shape of a cylinder, which must be attached to the bottom of the pot with glue. The trunk is attached to the crown on one side, and stuck into the foam on the other. For fixation we use hot glue.

For strength, fill the distance between the flowerpot and the foam with paper, glue it and cover it with cardboard. Next, first beige and then white sisal is placed in the container. Seashells of different sizes and shapes will also be used as decoration.

To add bright accents, use a satin ribbon. The crown can also be decorated with beads on a fishing line.

An original version of making topiary from sisal and fruits

First, let's make crown For these purposes, you can take a ready-made base ball, or you can make it yourself from newspapers and threads. In our case, the base was made of newspaper, which was crumpled into a ball with a diameter of 6-7 cm.

Let's start filling the pot plaster. After the solution is poured, you need to insert the barrel there and leave it to harden.

While the solution hardens, you can begin making decor for the crown. To do this, you need to cut a small piece of sisal and make a ball out of it. In total, you will need to make about 25-40 lumps.

A tree of happiness that you can make with your own hands. This is what topiaries are called, photos of which adorn numerous Internet pages dedicated to needlework and design. Each master class is interesting in its own way; you can watch the process in the video and instructions with photos. But where to start? What to make the first topiary from? What do you need to prepare?

Topiary is a tree with a round crown. And the choice of the ball is not accidental. Since ancient times, the circle has symbolized infinity, movement, life. And this is what people considered happiness. Therefore, the tree was considered a symbol of happiness, a souvenir that could materialize a cherished desire.

Almost any master class says that the crown is based on that same ball. Today you don’t have to do it yourself; ready-made foam balls are sold in handicraft stores.

But if those are not available to you, how to make a ball? The easiest way is a wad of newspaper. You simply take newspapers and scrunch them until a tight ball forms. And then you tie this lump with threads until the surface is smooth.

For the base ball the following can also be used:

  • Children's small rubber balls;
  • Tennis ball;
  • Papier-mâché ball;
  • Plastic ball from a set of children's cubes, etc.

Also, almost every tree has a trunk. In the photo and video you can see that a variety of materials are used to create the barrel.

The simplest option is wire or aluminum cable. Such a trunk can be beautifully bent. In addition, the barrel can be made from sushi sticks, drumsticks, pencils and markers, paper towel tubes, etc.

What you need to do is decorate the base for the trunk. Most often, the master class suggests wrapping it with braid, twine, twine, satin ribbon, etc..

Simple topiary for beginners: marine theme

Step-by-step instructions are a good help for beginners. This can be illustrated using a simple topiary as an example. This can be considered a topiary made from shells. On the shelf where there is a photo reminiscent of a seaside holiday, such a thematic topiary may appear.

To make it you need to prepare:

  • Shells;
  • Base ball;
  • Acrylic paint, brushes;
  • Flowerpot;
  • Blue and white tulle;
  • Decorative elements of a marine theme;
  • Thick pencil;
  • Blue satin ribbon.

The master class involves adjustments. You can change the topiary with your own hands, having additional decor and interesting ideas.

What to do:

  • Paint the base ball with light acrylic paint to match the shells;
  • While the paint is drying, prepare the shells. They can be left in their natural form, or they can be transformed a little. For example, coat it with varnish or silver spray.
  • You need to make a hole in the base ball for the barrel. The barrel itself, that is, the pencil, can be wrapped with a blue satin ribbon or with a weave of white or blue tulle. As an option, light blue braid and decorative white cord are also suitable. After the trunk is decorated, it needs to be fixed in a ball with hot glue.
  • Now the master class has reached the point, when can you make a crown?. You just need to glue the shells in order, in rows, from top to bottom, so that the gaps are minimal. Video and photo tips will help you understand the principle of gluing. You can’t glue it randomly! Only from top to bottom, in rows.
  • Of course, when the crown is ready, you can see that something is missing. If you want a little decor in this part, you can glue a small souvenir starfish.
  • Next, you have to make a pot with your own hands. The pot should also somehow reflect the marine theme. It would be great if you brought a cup from the sea with photos of the places where you happened to relax. It will fit perfectly into the decor of a nostalgic tree. But there are other options. For example, a pot can be painted with acrylic paints, and to create a wave effect, you can use white paint, PVA glue and coarse sea salt.
  • You need to pour plaster into the pot, where the tree is fixed. You also need to decorate the plaster layer on top with your own hands. It can be white sea sand, pebbles or shells of a different structure. You can place a large sea shell near the trunk of the tree.

The master class, as you can see, is simple - a beginner can handle it, step-by-step instructions can be changed by you at will.

Master class: topiary for beginners

And the thought of creating a topiary often comes to mind for those who love coffee and have at least once admired a miniature coffee tree. Moreover, you don’t have to see it in front of you - it can be an inspiring photo or video.

To make such a tree, follow these tips:

  • Almost every master class suggests laying grains in two layers - small and uneven on the bottom, and large and beautiful on the top;
  • You can decorate such a tree with cinnamon sticks, especially if you are a fan of coffee with cinnamon - the aroma will be incredible;
  • You can not only make a spherical crown, you can create a heart-shaped blank with your own hands, and then such a coffee gift can be intended for your loved one;
  • Instead of a pot, use a coffee cup, it will be more natural.

The craft that turns out to be original is a floating cup. The frame instead of the trunk here will be a stream of coffee beans or flowers that flow from a seemingly weightless cup. Of course, under this stream there is a frame in the form of a wire or fork.

Lessons: topiary for beginners

If you plan to create more than one souvenir tree with your own hands, listen to the advice of the masters.

Tips for beginners:

  • First, create a special folder on your computer, save in it all the photos you like, instructions, every master class that interests you.
  • Secondly, stock up on materials. You can build almost anything with your own hands, but you must have the resources for this. A small piece of organza, polymer clay, old sheet music, coins, watermelon seeds, and beautiful spikelets will come in handy.
  • Thirdly, purchase or make several blank balls for the crown at once. You will save time, and such a workpiece is reliable, durable, and will not let you down.

Finally, experiment with themes. Beginners are often let down by the color scheme - either too much or a mismatch of colors. You can spot the perfect combination from nature - flowers, leaf color, nuances of landscapes. Use what you see in your work and repeat natural patterns with your own hands.

Lessons for beginners: topiary “Tree of Harmony” (video)

Topiary is a really interesting activity. The infinity of themes and variations, ideas force us to take on new works. And if at first you repeat someone else's idea, then soon other newcomers may be inspired by your creativity.

DIY topiary for beginners (photo)

Surely many people want to have a tree of happiness at home. In the master classes we will tell you how to make topiary from napkins, coffee beans and corrugated paper.

It is believed that topiary is a tree of happiness. Such a gift would be appropriate for any holiday. For the New Year, you can make a tree and decorate it with tinsel and garlands. On Valentine's Day, it would be nice to give your other half a topiary on which hearts and valentines “grow”. The tree presented below will never wither, and such a gift will delight the person to whom you present it for a long time or will become another attribute of the comfort of your home.

To create such a delicate, graceful tree, you will need the following materials:
  • corrugated paper in pink and green;
  • foam ball;
  • PVA glue;
  • wooden stick;
  • scissors;
  • spray paint;
  • satin ribbon;
  • decorative moss;
  • floral sponge;
  • flower pot or flowerpot.

To make roses from corrugated paper, cut it into strips 24 cm long and 3-4 cm wide.

The size of the paper tapes may be different. It all depends on what size you plan to make the composition and flowers.

Now fold the large edge of the paper strip over about a third of its width.

Starting from the small side, twist the workpiece as shown in the photo.

In this case, twist the lower edge of the tape more tightly, and the upper, bent edge, a little looser. Then it will be seen that the rose petals are blooming.

Glue the flower using PVA to the top of the ball. In the same way, you need to make other roses from corrugated paper and attach them to the base.

Try to glue the flowers as close to each other as possible. Decorate the entire foam sphere in this manner.

If you don't have a foam ball, replace it with a plastic one. You can twist the paper, tie it with string to achieve a round shape and use this as a base.

This is what you should get after all the flowers are glued. If you want the leaves to set off the pink color, make them from green crepe paper, but the stripes should be shorter and slightly narrower than the rose ribbons.

We continue to create topiary from corrugated paper. Having cut the floral sponge to fit the diameter of the pot, place it inside the pot.

Pre-paint the wooden stick and let it dry. Stick this blank into the ball with one side and into the sponge with the other, secure it in these places with glue so that the structure holds better.

Hide the sponge under a small layer of decorative moss, tie a satin bow to the strip, and then you will have a beautiful topiary made of corrugated paper.

A child can make such a tree under the strict guidance of his father and give it to his mother or grandmother on March 8th. This creation will decorate the holiday table. If you make several of these trees, they will fit perfectly into the interior of the room where you are celebrating a wedding or having a fun party.

To make roses blend in with their surroundings, you can make them from corrugated paper of a different suitable color.

How to make roses from corrugated paper?

In order to decorate our tree in this way, we will twist the roses for it using a knitting needle. Right now you will learn how to make such flowers with your own hands and decorate your topiary with them.

For needlework you must have:

  • paper napkins;
  • knitting needle;
  • scissors;
  • spool of thread;
  • glue gun or Titan glue;
  • wand;
  • corrugated paper.
To make paper flowers, unfold the napkin. They are sold folded in four. Cut along the folds so that you get 4 squares from one.

Buy the cheapest and simplest single napkins. And you will not only be able to save money, but also make flowers, the blanks for which can be draped perfectly.

Place the first square on the table, and on one side of it, which is closer to you, a knitting needle. Moving away from you, begin to wrap the napkin around it, not reaching the edge opposite 3-4 cm.

Slide the opposite ends of the resulting roll towards each other, and then carefully remove the napkin from the knitting needle.

Now, starting from one edge, roll this workpiece into a roller. In this case, the roller should be at the top, and the free, unwrapped side should be at the bottom. Attach exactly the same second blank to this one and continue to twist the corrugated paper rose in a spiral.

Depending on how magnificent you plan to make the flower, you will need 3-5 blanks from which you will make one rose.

This is how beautiful the paper flower turned out.

Tie it from below with a thread, and cut off its “tail”.

To make topiary leaves, place 2 green napkins, one on top of the other, diagonally, as shown in the photo.

Crumple them into a ball and tie them at the bottom with thread.

We create a lush tree from flowers

Now we need to assemble the topiary from blanks and other materials. This can be done as in the case of a corrugated paper tree. Wrapping paper is quite suitable for the base of this. It needs to be crumpled into a ball and tied with twine. All kinds of office drafts and unnecessary papers will do. The main thing is to give the workpiece a round shape, leveling it. Then glue napkins on top and let the ball dry.

Now glue leaves and flowers onto the resulting blank.

Well, you read above how to attach a stick to an already decorated ball and put it in a pot.

A floral or regular sponge can be draped not only with decorative moss, but also with bags like these made from green napkins. To do this, they are folded diagonally and the corner is fastened with a stapler.

This is the wonderful result of creativity that comes out at the end of the work.

Other options for corrugated paper roses

If you want fluffier flowers, check out another way to create a napkin topiary.

For this process you need the following equipment and materials:

  • napkins of the desired color;
  • scissors;
  • small sheet of cardboard;
  • stapler;
  • glue.
To make flowers, fold the napkin in half twice and secure in the middle with a stapler. Cut out a round template from cardboard, attach it to a folded napkin and cut it according to it.

Crumple the top layer of the napkin at the base. Then, the second and subsequent layers.

If you want to finish this work quickly, then crumple 2 layers at a time. If you have a ball with a diameter of 20 cm, then you need to make 48 blanks from napkins to cover it all with flowers.

If you don't have a tree trunk stick, then you can make a paper topiary without one. In this case, simply place the round ball blank in a flower pot or basket made from newspapers.

Now, using a heat gun or glue, attach the flowers you made yourself to the ball. Start with the first bottom row, gradually moving up. If you alternate roses like this, creating a topiary with your own hands (the following step-by-step photo demonstrates the process), then you will get an amazing flowering tree.

You can decorate a basket or pot with satin ribbons, and you will get such an amazing result.

DIY gift - heart made of grains

Here is another example of how you can make topiary with your own hands. The master class will explain every step of the needlework process.

Such a topiary can be made and presented not only to your soulmate on Valentine’s Day, but also as a gift to a dear person, a relative on February 23, on your birthday, or to a friend on March 8.

To create such a fragrant coffee topiary, you will need:

  • twine;
  • brown satin ribbon;
  • coffee beans;
  • glue;
  • cup and saucer;
  • brown paint;
  • alabaster or plaster;
  • thick brown threads;
  • anise stars.
Cut the base blank for the heart from polystyrene foam or make it from polyurethane foam. You can also make it from cardboard, newspapers, giving it the desired shape. Now cover the heart with brown paint and let it dry. Then wrap the workpiece with brown thread, forming a loop at the top.

Glue 2 rows of beans onto the sides of the heart, placing them flat side down. After that, fill the middle in the same way.

In order for the workpiece to be voluminous and the base not to show through, glue a second layer of grains on one side and the other with the slits facing upwards. The final touch of this step is gluing the star anise in the center.

And then he tells how to make a topiary with your own hands, a master class. Take a piece of wire and wrap its base around the leg of a table or chair. Bend it as shown in the photo and wrap it with twine, gluing each section of rope to the wire.

Bend the end of the wire with larger turns, attach a heart made of coffee beans here, putting it on the loop.

Pour alabaster or plaster into a container that you don’t mind throwing away later, add water to get the consistency of sour cream. Place the lower part of the wire in the cup, fill it with the resulting mass, leave to completely harden, leveling the surface. When this happens, glue 2 layers of grains on top.

How to make a coffee tree with your own hands?

If you liked creating with such interesting material, create another topiary from coffee beans. It is performed almost according to the same principle as the previous one, but a ball is taken as the basis.

Here's what you need to prepare before you start:

  • coffee beans of even shape;
  • ball with a diameter of 8 cm;
  • flower pot or other suitable container;
  • glue gun;
  • a plastic tube 25 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter (if you don’t have one, use a piece of plastic pipe or a wooden stick;
  • alabaster;
  • nylon and satin ribbon;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • scissors;
  • container for mixing the solution.
Use scissors to make a hole in the ball that matches the diameter of the tree trunk. Glue the coffee beans to this sphere, trying to place them close to each other.

You can leave the ball like this, but it’s better to glue a second row of grains to it, placing them in stripes up. Then a hand-made coffee tree will look more attractive and aesthetically pleasing. This is what you should have at this stage.

Now wrap double-sided tape around the stick or tube, not reaching 3 cm from both ends, and tape over it.

To measure how much water is needed for the solution, pour it into the container in which the coffee topiary will be located. Then pour it into a bowl for mixing the solution, add alabaster and stir well. The consistency of the solution will resemble thick sour cream.

Immediately transfer the resulting mass into a pot and place a tree of coffee beans in the center of it. When the solution has hardened, stick first one and then a second row of grains on its surface, in the same way as we did above - first with the strip down, and then the second row with the strip up.

Apply glue to the top of the stem and fit the hole of the round blank onto it.

All that remains is to decorate the crown with anise stars, tie a bow, and the magnificent coffee tree is ready.

If you liked the lessons on making topiary, you want to see clearly how to make a coffee tree with your own hands with a crown in the shape of a heart or a ball, watch two videos. And the third will give inspiration, suggesting many ideas for creating topiary from napkins:

The photos, which can be considered a small advertisement, show how beautiful and perfect topiaries are. A small souvenir tree will complement one interior, transform a second, and make a third brighter. And you can do these transformations with your own hands. Numerous photo and video master classes show in detail how to create a new image from the most ordinary things. How to make topiary yourself, what is needed for this, and what subtleties should be taken into account?

This master class is, let’s say, a universal recipe. It doesn’t matter what kind of topiary you are going to make; this master class will describe in detail each stage and its variations.

The first thing work usually begins with is the search for materials. Craftswomen who make more than one craft with their own hands are accustomed to stockpiles. Making stocks means purchasing not just one item, but five at once. This means that you should not pass by beautiful chestnuts, rowan branches, and dried flowers. Take everything home to your handmade treasure chest.

The same goes for possible decor - scraps of fabric, beads, buttons, rhinestones, ribbons, threads. All this can become the basis for decorations that you make yourself.

Tips for beginning craftsmen:

  • Place photos of the topiaries you like in a separate folder, save the desired master class, step-by-step instructions.
  • Distribute everything into boxes: threads in one, natural materials in another, fabric in a third, etc.
  • Visit craft stores. There you can find various blanks that will make your work easier. Yes, and they are inexpensive.

If you have already created at least one successful topiary, think about the fact that the process is worth filming. This could be a photo or video, but such material may be useful to you again, and you can place it on special resources and, by the way, sometimes they pay for it.

Making topiary: step-by-step instructions

So, next you need to make the topiary elements directly. They usually start with the basics. The base is what the crown will rest on. And the crown in the case of a souvenir tree is its main part. Therefore, the base ball must be made strong, reliable, and solid. You can buy a ready-made foam part; this blank will fit any tree.

But you can make a ball with your own hands:

  • Method one. Newspapers, threads, glue. You need to make a ball of newspaper that is dense and hard. It should be soaked in glue and tied well with thread until you get a ball.
  • Second way. Ball, polyurethane foam, knife. Inflate the ball, but not too much, slightly smaller than the size the base should be. Then you put the ball on a foam balloon and fill it up. The foam swells, so fill a little. You can do this at night so that in the morning you can detect a noticeably enlarged ball. Next, just remember how you cut the peel from an orange with your own hands. You need to do the same here until you get the base ball you need.
  • Third way. Papier mache. You probably remember this step-by-step instruction from childhood. Find an object whose shape you are going to repeat, and cover it with paper or napkins in several layers. Then you cut it, take out the object, and fasten the figure together.

The latter method is more often used if the basis for the crown needs to be made not of a ball, but of a heart.

How to make topiary with your own hands

The crown must stand on something. In a tree, this mission is carried out by the trunk, and the souvenir tree follows the same path. Different workshops offer different options. Some say that only branches can be a beautiful, natural trunk. Others use both wire and aluminum cable for this purpose.

If you look in detail at any photo master class, you will see that the most unexpected things are used as a trunk. For example, sushi chopsticks.

To create the trunk you may need:

  • Cardboard rods from paper towel rolls;
  • Pencils;
  • Drumsticks;
  • Wine corks;
  • Curly door handles.

Yes, it is the handles that can become the trunk - if you remove everything unnecessary from them, leaving only the elegant vertical part, this could very well become the trunk for some elegant money tree.

Basically, what serves as the basis for the trunk has to be decorated - painted, wrapped, glued, etc.

How to make a pot with your own hands

The tree usually stands in a pot. The easiest way is to buy a new one, which you won’t even have to decorate. But it happens, you look at a photo, and you want to do everything exactly according to this photo.

For example, from a simple penny plastic cup you can make an exquisite pot with your own hands.

The master class is very simple:

  • Coat the cup with spray paint the color you need;
  • The flowerpot can be textured– sparkles, salt, cereals, all this can change the glass, making it embossed;
  • Textile decor is appropriate– this can be a satin ribbon that matches the color of either the pot or the crown, as well as braid, lace, twine, twine;

You can attach a small photo to the pot with a decorative clip, for example, where you are together with your loved one, or with the one to whom this tree is intended as a gift.

Step-by-step instructions: creating shapes

The souvenir tree may have an unusual shape. More than one tricky technique is used to create various shapes. You can do unusual things with your own hands, and few people will guess how you did it in the first place.

To design figures you need:

  • Use of bendable materials;
  • Sketch of the future composition;
  • Elegant decor that hides the entire mechanism of the product.

We usually talk about designing figures when we mean making garden sculptures. Such unusual landscaping is captured in numerous photographs. The figures require certain manipulations with knitting or carpentry wire. You will get topiary sculptures, entire compositions of green figures.

Making them is not so easy, but modern devices have made the process easier. So today, the production of figures is simplified by purchasing special figured meshes or metal frames. They are put on the plant, which, of course, is thus limited in growth. When shoots make their way through the mesh, they need to be trimmed.

This way you can get several elegant figures on your site. For beginners, there is advice - take simpler frames for the first time, do not try to build several figures at once, this requires care and a certain skill.

DIY topiary: design mistakes (video)

A souvenir tree, a tree with an ideally shaped crown - numerous master classes tell you how to create such beauty yourself. If you live in an apartment and don’t have your own plot, then start bringing your dream closer step by step. First, a figured tree at home, on a table, and then it can be scaled in a natural environment.

Happy plans and their implementation!
