The guys told us about one very good place in Verona where you can eat deliciously, and which they visit very often themselves. This is an absolutely non-tourist place, secluded from public eyes. We are talking about the tavern "Osteria al Duca" (which means "Duke's tavern" in Italian).
They say that the building of the tavern was formerly Romeo's house. I think this is not true, but the legend is beautiful in itself. What is true is that the building of the tavern was built in the 13th century and it is the oldest tavern in Verona. The owners of the tavern are a married couple, they treat the tavern very sensitively and with care! It's incredibly comfortable!
We had dinner on the 2nd floor of the tavern, and indeed, only locals dined in the tavern, there were no tourists except us. In general, it is worth noting that restaurants and cafes that are close to the main attractions of Verona, for example, near the Arena di Verona, are more aimed at tourists, so the food may not be so colorful, traditional. But each region of Italy has its own peculiarities in the preparation of certain dishes, certain types of wines are popular. Going to the "Osteria al Duca" tavern, you will be able to taste the cuisine typical of Verona, as well as the wines that are produced in Verona.

Wines of Verona
Verona is a paradise for wine lovers. The region produces 2 million centners of DOC wine (this is such a classification of wine quality, you can read more on English language), and occupies the first place in Italy for the production of wines of such high quality. In the Veneto region, 22 types of vintage DOC wines are produced, and 10 of them are made from grapes growing right next to Verona, and it is in Verona that two types of wine are produced that are the only ones with a double quality mark (controlled and guaranteed origin) - Bardolino Classico DOCG and Recioto di Soave.
If you are not very knowledgeable about wine, you may not find the information in the previous paragraph very interesting. Therefore, below we will simply list those brands of wine that you can buy and order in local restaurants if you want to try local wine. A bottle of this wine will also serve as an excellent gift for friends and family.
