The gorgeous painting “White Roses” impressed me. Delicate, beautiful thread colors, smooth transitions, all this made it very bright and beautiful. The manufacturer of the kits suggests embroidering these roses on canvas; you can use a smaller canvas, or a larger one.
I started embroidering roses by matching on Aida 14 canvas.
To embroider “White Roses” you need to take the following materials:
Embroidery hoop or frame.
- cotton floss.
- tapestry needle.
- white canvas Aida 14 or 16.
- marker for marking the outline.
- heron scissors for cutting threads.

The background in this design is not fully embroidered, but the unembroidered area is small, so there is no point in embroidering roses on fabric that has an even weave of threads. Before starting work, the canvas must be sheathed so that it does not unravel; you can mark it with a marker, and then tuck it into a hoop or frame.
The background is embroidered with a half-cross using two, three, four and five threads. This technique helps create volume. The roses themselves are cross-stitched using two or one thread. This makes the petals either more saturated in color or more transparent. The effect is amazing.
There is a lot of back stitching in this picture. You can’t do without it here, because it draws and outlines rose petals, buds, and leaves. It must be embroidered very carefully, trying not to make long broaches. Of course, backstitching the needle is tiring, so I prefer to do it as the process progresses, rather than at the very end, when the whole picture is embroidered.
Many thread colors are used, but the palette is also expanded with the help of melange, when one color is combined with another. This technique is reminiscent of painting, when the artist mixes paints and gets a new color.
When the flowers were embroidered, I washed the picture, dried it and ironed it. I was very pleased with the result. I still recommend embroidering it on a frame, and not on a hoop, since the hoop results in a strong distortion of the fabric due to the fact that the background is embroidered in a semi-cross.

- After completing the embroidery, the fabric must be washed by hand in warm soapy water and then dried on a towel (so that the work does not become deformed);
- After this, all that remains is to iron the fabric with a warm iron.
The cross stitch is finished, but even the embroidered bouquet needs to be properly decorated. Cut out a suitable size piece of plastic or cardboard. The fabric is stretched using a strong thread. It is used to sew up the edges of the fabric from the inside out. On the front side, the pattern should not look skewed; do not loosen the thread tension too much.
It is best to place such a blank under glass, in a frame. If you want to go for a retro look, look for a matching frame. A snow-white frame is always a winning option.

White embroidered rose - how to make it on a white canvas? Well, firstly, why on white, and secondly, working with shadows and the white canvas will not “lose” the rose. - Lots of light and nothing unnecessary. This is the most important thing for comfortable embroidery. There will be concentration and eye strain, there is no way around it, and the lighting must be sufficient. Ideally - during the day. And no foreign objects at the work site.
- Comfortable spot. Hard stool will, of course, only make you tired. It would be ideal to use an orthopedic chair with a back brace.
- Respites are a must. The work should not be exhausting; by embroidering for a long time, you waste the body's reserves. Distribute the work.
Don't jump from topic to topic - you can quickly become disillusioned with needlework. Try to learn one thing to the maximum, and only then learn something new.
