The sources of the Left Mama are located on the northwestern slopes of the Verkhneangarsky ridge. Having received many tributaries, the Left Mama then merges with the Right Mama and forms the Mama River, which flows into Vitim.
The route begins in the village of Uoyan (see route 101), where you need to cross the Upper Angara and climb along it about 4 km to the first river - Aldomakit. After 50 m, a path goes north to Left Mama. After 20 km it leads to a small tributary of the Upper Angara - Anamakita Angarsky and then goes up this river. The trail passes from bank to bank several times, then gradually rises to an indistinct pass in the Verkhneangarsky ridge.
Descent from the pass - to Anamakit Mamsky, which flows into the Left Mama with several branches. At the exit point of the Left Mama trail, it is quite wide and full of water. On the right bank there is a rare pine forest; you can find material for a wooden raft. From here it is possible to raft on any tourist boat. If the group has time, it makes sense to go up the river to the place where the large right tributary of the Ogienda Masquite flows into it and admire the Mama Falls.
Below the Anamakit mouth the river is calm; deep reaches filled with transparent, slightly greenish water give way to short sandy rifts. The river meanders a lot, at times it almost stops (when moving on a raft you have to grab poles), and where it goes the most to the west, the water generally stands still. You should be careful: next is the first and very serious obstacle - the “Straight Threshold” with a total length of about 500 m with a height difference of about 15 m. The river narrows from 100 to 30, and then to 10 m. All in white foam, the water rushes in a narrow , a rock-filled vent. On the right bank there is a good trail for skidding. If the group is not completely confident in successfully passing the threshold, it is better not to risk it and drop the raft without people; it will pass the threshold and get stuck in the rocks at the exit.
After the rapids, the Left Mama spills over more than 400 m between sandy islands to gather in one channel just before the mouth of a small right tributary, the Delika. After about 5 km, the most difficult cascade of rapids on the Deliksky River begins with a total length of 3 - 4 km. There are 5 rapids in total, the most difficult is the first, 1.5 km long (strong current, mass of stones, leaving no time for maneuver). This threshold has not yet been completely passed by tourists. The next rapids are significantly inferior to the first and are more like shivers. You can go around the Delik Cascade along the path on the left bank.
Beyond the threshold, Left Mama is divided into sleeves, many of them are clogged with rubble, and there are small rifts in the free passages. Further, calm sections alternate with rifts of varying complexity: for example, a long complex rift is located in front of the mouth of the Bolshoi Ugdokit. After the confluence of the right tributary - the Tokinda, a threshold with a total length of 1.5 km, after another 2 km (2 km before the mouth of the left tributary - the Tala River) the next threshold (steep drainage, an abundance of large stones), ending with a strong pressure against the rock of the left bank. Then, before merging with the Right Mother, there are no serious obstacles, but there are shivers and quite powerful pressures.
At the confluence of the two Mamas, the valley is very wide, the banks rise gently, revealing a boundless sea of Transbaikal forests. The river has become noticeably more full-flowing, obstacles include pressure points, and for wooden rafts, rocky rifts.
At the mouth of a large right tributary - Konkudery - there is a village: 20 houses, a weather station, a village council, a store. The route can be completed at the Komsomolsk-Molodezhny mine, from where boats regularly go down to the village of Mama. A plane flies from Mama to Irkutsk.
Rafting on the Right Mother, due to its low water content, is only possible on inflatable boats.

Fishing and relaxation on the Mama River
The river is fed mainly by rain. The flood continues from May to September. The river is covered with ice from October to May. Summer rain floods are frequent.
There are pine forests on the banks of the river. The Mama River is quite popular with tourists who raft along the rapids (the Delika Cascade of Rapids is considered especially difficult) or admire the Mama waterfalls.
In the river basin there are mica deposits, the development and extraction of which was carried out along the banks. On the left bank of the Mama, at the mouth of the river, on the spit of the Mama and Vitim, is the village of Mama, once famous for its unique deposit of muscovite mica. To transport it, a concrete runway was even built in the village, capable of receiving heavy transport aircraft. Now the mica reserves have been depleted, and therefore exploration and search for mica were stopped in 1994.
